Prince William School Girls’ Rowing Team reach the County School Games Final

Rowing

Congratulations to the Prince William School Girls’ Rowing Team reaching the County School Games Final. The Girls’ in Years 7/8 and 9/10 competed as individuals and as a team and came away with a variety of different awards.  Each individual had to row for a set amount of time ranging from two minutes to five minutes depending on age and then as part of a four-person relay team coving a distance of 2017 metres.

All the girls worked very hard and performed to the best of their ability at all times. The standard of rowing was high and there were some records broken on the day. Prince William managed to be placed third overall in the Year 9/10 age group and there were individual medals for Erin Hodnett (3rd) and Eve Cresswell (2nd). All the girls who participated were a credit to the school.

Indoor rowing is a low impact way to develop fitness and to stay active.  It is a great activity for students to get involved in. Both individual performance and teamwork are prominent throughout the sport. Development of skill, determination, focus, and drive provide reward and opportunities. Regular exercise, fun and camaraderie all contribute to general well-being and good health.
