Prince William School

About Us

ADMISSIONS

Prince William School is a secondary school serving students from year 7 all the way through to Sixth Form. We serve a large rural catchment area and our students are usually drawn from our feeder primary schools located in Oundle, Thrapston and our surrounding local villages. The criteria for the allocation of places is as follows:

Children who have a statement of special educational needs that names the school will be admitted.
When there are more applications for places than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order:

  1. To children in public care (looked after children)
  2. To pupils who live in the linked villages of: Achurch, Aldwincle, Apethorpe, Armston, Ashton, Barnwell, Benefield, Blatherwycke, Bulwick, Clopton, Cotterstock, Collyweston, Deene, Deenethorpe, Denford, Denford Ash, Duddington, Easton-on-the-Hill, Fineshade, Fotheringhay, Glapthorn, Hemington, Islip, Kings Cliffe, Laxton, Lilford-cum-Wigthorpe, Lowick, Luddington in the Brook, Lutton, Nassington, Oundle, Pilton, Polebrook, Southwick, Stoke Doyle, Sudborough, Tansor, Thorpe Waterville, Titchmarsh, Thrapston, Thurning, Wadenhoe, Wakerley, Warmington, Woodnewton and Yarwell.
  3. To pupils who have an older brother or sister continuing at the school at the time of transfer and who live in one of the linked villages
  4. To other pupils who live within the linked area
  5. To pupils who have an older brother or sister continuing at the school at the time of transfer who live outside the linked area
  6. To other pupils.

Distance Tiebreaker

If the admission number is exceeded within criterion 5 or 6, priority will be given to those who live furthest from the nearest alternative school. If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion priority will be given to those who live closest to the school. Distance will be measured on a "straight line" basis.

The school's admissions process is managed on our behalf by Northamptonshire County Council, in line with their Admissions Policy. This is available on-line at www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/admissions
Any parents who are 'out of area' and are interested in pursuing admission to Prince William School are asked to contact the school in the first instance. Parents are then required to apply on-line as above. In-Year requests will be managed in a similar manner.
