Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR 2c (£6,646)
Contract: Permanent, full time
Start date: September 2019 or sooner if possible

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher to support the work of our Head of Science leading our dedicated team of Science teachers. The ability to teach Physics up to A level would be an advantage.

Prince William School is located in Oundle, within easy commuting distance of Peterborough, Stamford, Kettering, Huntingdon, Wellingborough, and Corby.  It is a vibrant and friendly school which strives to deliver the challenging and inspirational curriculum our students need to prepare them for the ever-changing world of work. We have high expectations for all, and our aim is simple: to be the best school in Northamptonshire and beyond for every student, no matter what their ability or aspirations.

The Science department is housed in a beautiful new building of 14 bespoke laboratories and is staffed by a team of energetic, dedicated and resourceful professionals who are very supportive of each other.  Our students are well behaved, happy, engaging, and inquisitive individuals, who are proud to be Prince William students.  We are passionate about providing them with the best possible education, and they have high aspirations for themselves and look to us to guide them on their journey to adult life.

The appointed applicant will be passionate about Science teaching and have the drive and commitment to be part of the leadership of the department, focused on developing exciting and engaging learning experiences.  This is an exciting time to be joining the school as examination results have seen rapid improvement in the last two years.  In 2018, 67% achieved grade 4+ in both English and Maths, 45% achieved grade 5+ in both English and Maths, and our Progress 8 score was +0.31, with the gap between disadvantaged and other students closing by 0.45 grade compared with 2017, despite that gap widening nationally.

The successful candidate will:

  • be an enthusiastic teacher who inspires students to learn,
  • be committed to delivering high-quality lessons for students of all abilities,
  • be passionate about the importance of the teaching of Science, and
  • be a great team member and leader.

We offer:

  • a committed and supportive team,
  • students with good attitudes to learning and a desire to learn,
  • a personalised approach to CPD,
  • a caring and approachable senior management team, and if needed
  • an onsite nursery run by a private company.
